Surgeon Sage says - Only a poor boob pays his money, loses his watch, gets the syph, and brags that he's had a good time.  During World War I, PHS launched a campaign against venereal disease, including the use of posters featuring a character known as PHS Surgeon Sage who warned soldiers against casual sexual encounters.
