A. J. Celebrezze Federal Building1240 East Ninth Street The A. J. Celebrezze Federal Building was constructed in 1966 and named after Anthony Joseph Celebrezze Sr., who was the 49th mayor of Cleveland, a cabinet member in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, and a U.S. Appeals Court judge. The 32-story office building is located in the northeast section of downtown Cleveland's central business district. Current Renovation Project The building is currently undergoing a prospectus level renovation that includes repairs to the plaza, installation of a new fire management system, and replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. This project is scheduled for completion in Fall 2009. Building Hours and Access The building is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.- 4:45 p.m. but is closed on federal holidays. All visitors must submit to security screening and present a valid identity card (such as a state driver's license or federal ID) before being allowed to enter the building. Parking and Public Transportation There are various public parking options around the building including a municipal parking garage north of the building. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority provides public transportation to Cleveland and the surrounding suburbs. A rail station is located just north of the building, and a bus stop is located to the east of the building. Building Amenities
Conference Rooms The building has four conference rooms available with capacities ranging from 20 to 55 people. An auditorium with a capacity of 210 people is also available. History and Architectural FeaturesThe Celebrezze Federal Building is an example of a modern skyscraper expressed by its structural steel framework and glass curtain wall. The exterior perimeter walls of the first floor are composed of glass and granite panels. Granite dominates the building lobby walls, floor and outside plaza.
