Under Governor Kaine’s leadership, the Commonwealth of Virginia has earned national recognition as a great place to live, attend school, and start or run a business. Virginia’s reputation as the “best state for business,” the best place to raise a child, and the “best-managed state” in the country is thanks to the work of state and local governments that pride ourselves on being effective, efficient, and open. Stimulus.virginia.gov represents our commitment to ensure Virginia citizens are kept informed about how state government leaders plan to implement the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).

The ARRA provides more than $4 billion in direct state-aid. In addition, a substantial amount of additional ARRA funds are available through competitive grants, many of which may be awarded to state entities including agencies and institutions of higher education. These awards may also be made to local governments, quasi-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations, and private companies.
