Chesterfield

This educational program is one of the few chances to visit the Faust Historic Village for free without an appointment.

Faust Historic Village is a collections of building moved to Faust Park in Chesterfield from around the Chesterfield and St. Louis area to save from demolition. The house were build between 1840 and 1890 and are opened to the public and will be staffed by trained docents that will tell the history of the house. Many weekends a blacksmith is working in the blacksmith shop.

This magnificent exhibition explores the glories of the imperial court of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) through more than 125 works of art selected from the collections of three major museums in China, and from the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. The objects include artifacts made by imperial manufacturers as well as paintings created by emperors and high-ranking officials. Presented at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest park.

Exhibit admission: $10; students/seniors, $8; ages 6-12, $6 younger than 6, free. Advance tickets are highly recommended; available at www.MetroTix.com, by phone, 314-534-1111; and at the Museum. Tickets are for a specific time of day.

The year is 1812. The soldiers and residents of this remote outpost on the American Frontier are commemorating the anniversary of their independence against the rumors of another impending war with Great Britain. Toasts are made and speeches are given You won't want to miss the firing of the cannons, muskets and military drills. Be a witness to history and reflect on how our contemporary celebrations contrast with those of our ancestors.

Swing's the Thing. Big Band music featuring tunes from the 40s and 50s, played by the Blue Knights, a 12-piece band from St. Louis. The dance is held in the pavilion; seating available inside and on the attached deck. There is a wine and snack bar, offering Stone Hill wines and juices by the bottle, along with a variety of snacks, cheese and sausage baskets, popcorn and soda. Tickets must be purchased in advance: $25. See Web site for details and tickets information.

St. Joseph

Trails West is one of the largest event in Northwest Missouri; rated in the top three by the Missouri Arts Council. The festivities include three days of fine art, folk art, dramatic stage performances, reenactments, musical entertainment and food for the whole family. Come experience St Joseph's unique cultural heritage and art works from across the Midwest. Held in Civic Center Park.
