Wash Your HandsH1N1 Flu Update

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is working with the CDC and state and local partners to monitor the recent H1N1 (swine) flu outbreak in the Commonwealth.

What you can do to stay healthy

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Practice good "cough etiquette" by coughing or sneezing into a tissue, or into your elbow instead of into your hands.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you get sick, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to avoid infecting them.

Mother's Day is May 10th, 2008

Mom receiving flowersThis Sunday, we will celebrate the contributions that all mothers around the world have given to us. Whether or not you are fortunate enough to treat that special someone to brunch, or take her on a visit to Old Sturbridge Village, it is important to spend time with your loved ones.

The driving force behind Mother’s Day was Anna Jarvis, who organized observances on May 10, 1908. Following her hard work in 1914, Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
