Agencies use different terms to describe an occupational questionnaire. You may
see the terms assessment, questionnaire, test or exam. Generally, if an agency
is using this method to learn more about your education and experience, you will
be expected to answer specific questions related to the position to be filled.
Often, the questionnaire will be administered online during the application
process. You may be asked to rank your abilities on a scale of 0-5 or to write
narrative descriptions of your abilities. You could be asked to take a written test.
In general, agencies will score your responses and assign you a rating between 0 and
100. The agency may have you complete other assessments in addition to the
occupational questionnaire. Be sure to read the vacancy announcement carefully to
see which method, or methods, the agency is using.
