Illinois' Minimum Wage Increases to $7.75 on July 1st, 2008
Governor Blagojevich reminds Illinois employers and workers that the state’s minimum wage increases to $7.75 an hour starting on July 1, 2008. The minimum wage will increase by an additional 25 cents in each of the following two years to $8.00 on July 1, 2009; and $8.25 on July 1, 2010.
On Dec. 18, 2006 Gov. Blagojevich signed into law legislation increasing the state minimum wage to $7.50 per hour on July 1, 2007. The minimum wage will increase by an additional 25 cents in each of the following two years to $8.00 on July 1, 2009; and $8.25 on July 1, 2010.

New Carnival & Amusement Ride law to help protect millions of children and fairgoers
The Illinois Department of Labor will enforce a new carnival law
requiring owners to conduct background checks on carnival ride
operators. The new law goes into effect, January 1, 2008.

Public Act 093-0912, Employer Notice of Change
This law amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987.
Employers may not ask if an applicant had a juvenile record expunged and that application
for employment must contain specific language that states that
the applicant is not obligated to disclose expunged juvenile
