NCUA Receives Top CFC Award

October 29, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – The National Credit Union Administration Central and Region II office 2008 fundraising efforts were recognized today by the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) at the agency’s 2009 CFC campaign kick-off. Carol Campbell, the CFC loan executive assigned to NCUA, presented Chairman Fryzel with the CFC National Capital Area’s President’s Award.

The President’s Award -- the highest CFC award given to an agency -- is granted when an agency has at least 75 percent employee participation in the CFC or $275 per capita gift. During 2008, NCUA’s Central and Region II office staffs gave an average CFC gift of $506, with a participation rate of 72.4 percent.

“Volunteerism is the most critical element for success of charitable groups,” Chairman Fryzel said. “Whether you volunteer time to feed the hungry, or volunteer donations through the CFC to purchase food for the hungry, it is the act of voluntarily giving that makes the effort a success.

“Here at NCUA we recognize the value of volunteerism. Credit unions succeed because volunteers give their time and effort. For the past 75 years, federal credit unions have been instrumental in helping people achieve their financial goals. Volunteer donations go a very long way in improving the lives of others, especially in these difficult financial times,” Chairman Fryzel said.

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 89 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
