Chairman Fryzel Visits Signal Financial FCU Branch

October 21, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel visited Signal Financial Federal Credit Union in Washington, D.C., October 15, 2008, to help celebrate the recent opening of a new branch office in a low-income neighborhood near Capitol Hill.

“Opening a new branch office is an important demonstration of outreach by formerly occupational-based credit unions such as Signal Financial Federal Credit Union,” said Chairman Fryzel. “While electronic access continues to grow, a new branch illustrates how essential a brick-and-mortar presence can be to a diverse membership.”

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 89 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
