Fryzel Continues Credit Union Delegation Meetings

September 25, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel met this week with delegations from the Wisconsin, Georgia, Ohio and Oregon credit union leagues, continuing his encouragement of involvement in the governmental affairs process on the part of credit union volunteers and professionals.

“It is crucial that lawmakers know the credit union story and by coming to Washington and conveying a direct about what your credit union does for its members, credit union groups such as the ones I met with this week are performing an extremely important service,” commented Chairman Fryzel. “I commend you on this outreach.”

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 87 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
