NCUA Welcomes
Illinois Credit Union and League Representatives

September 19, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel and Board Member Gigi Hyland welcomed 15 Illinois Credit Union and League representatives to Alexandria today, and encouraged continued activism and involvement in the governmental affairs process.

“You perform an important function by coming to Washington, meeting with federal regulators and your Congressional delegation, and conveying a strong message about credit unions and their importance to consumers. I cannot overemphasize how essential the credit union voice is in this process,” commented Chairman Fryzel.

“We look to credit unions not only for input and information on specific regulatory policies, but also to provide detail about how what we do at the federal level affects consumers,” noted Board Member Hyland.

Fryzel and Hyland’s remarks came during a meeting and tour of NCUA’s central office as part of the Illinois Credit Union League’s annual visit to Washington.
