Chairman Fryzel Meets with NASCUS Officials
October 17, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel welcomed National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors President Mary Martha Fortney; North Carolina Regulator Jerrie Lattimore and Georgia Regulator George Reynolds to NCUA headquarters this week.
“It’s vital that federal and state regulators work arm-in-arm to solidify the cooperative efforts necessary to maintain our nation’s system of safe, sound credit unions. I look forward to moving ahead with a unified perspective, realizing the contributions both federal and state regulators make in daily credit union operations across the country,” said Chairman Michael Fryzel.
The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 89 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
