NCUA Welcomes Washington League
March 9, 2009, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel and Board Member Gigi Hyland welcomed 11 Washington Credit Union League representatives to Alexandria recently, and encouraged continued activism and involvement in the governmental affairs process.
“By conveying your message in Washington about what credit unions do for consumers, you perform an extremely important service, commented Chairman Fryzel.
“It is always a pleasure to meet with members of the credit union industry and discuss their current endeavors and thoughts of the industry as a whole, our doors are always open” remarked Board Member Hyland.

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 89 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
