Golden Eagle Shot Near Carpenter, South Dakota

 - Reward Offered -


The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting of a golden eagle six and a half miles north and two miles west of Carpenter, Clark County, South Dakota.  The eagle was shot sometime between

December 25 – 28, 2008.


The eagle was transported to the Bramble Park Zoo in Watertown, South Dakota, where it had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries.

Golden Eagles are protected by both federal and state law.  Golden eagles are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
