All Federal Employees of Civilian Agencies
FAI provides training courses - at no charge for tuition - to federal employees of executive civilian agencies. FAI does not provide training to federal contractors or private industry employees.
Classroom Courses
The steps below are designed to assist in navigating through the FAI training application process for classroom courses:-
Step 1- FAI Class Schedule- View FAI’s schedule for class information, dates and location.
Step 2- Prerequisites- Employees must have completed the prerequisites before they are approved to attend.
Step 3- Pre-class assignments- Required for CON 120, 215, 218, and CON 353 classes.
Step 4- Federal Acquisition Institute Training Application (FAITAS)- Apply for training. Read here for information about FAITAS' security certificate.

Step 5- Course approval- if approved, you will receive a system generated email and a few weeks before the class a welcome email.
Step 6- Waitlist- Some courses may have a waitlist. If you are placed on the waitlist and subsequently approved, you will be notified.
Step 7- Course completion policy- What must be met to receive credit for an FAI-sponsored training.
Step 8- FAI Classroom Courses Handbook- Highlights the policies and business rules related to the participant and training environment.
Web-based Courses
The steps below are designed to assist in navigating through the training application process for web-based courses:

Step 1- Training Schedule- View the DAU schedule for schedule information.
Step 2- Prerequisites- Employees must have completed the prerequisites before they are approved to attend.
Step 3- Federal Acquisition Institute Training Application (FAITAS)- Apply for training.

Step 4- Course approval- if approved, you will receive a system generated notice and, later, instructions accessing the course. Once notified, you have 21 days to start the course or you will be dropped.
Step 5- Waitlist- Some courses may have a waitlist. When you are approved, you will be notified.
Step 6- Course completion- at the completion of the course you will receive a completion certificate.

Acquisition University(DAU)
Federal Employees of Non-executive Agencies
Federal employees of non-executive agencies (legislative and judicial branches) will be allowed to attend FAI training on a space-available basis. Employees of these agencies who apply for FAI training will be notified 60 days prior to the start of class if their request for training has been approved.
Travel and Accommodations
Participants are responsible for their travel and accommodations. Contact your supervisor or agency travel office for assistance.
Record of Training
The Federal Acquisition Institute does not provide transcripts confirming completion of training. The course provider will provide students with a course completion certificate within 30 days of successfully completing their class. However, students are responsible for updating their training records in ACMIS. Contact the trainer or FAI Registrar (at help desk ticket) if you have questions.
COTR Training
If you are interested in COTR Training, please contact your local Training Coordinator and/or Acquisition Career Manager for agency specific COTR certifications questions. To enroll in COTR training, please login to FAITAS and select "Continuous Learning Modules" on the left side of the screen.
