WASHINGTON, DC—House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today commented on a report released today by the U.S. Department of Labor showing that South Carolina’s unemployment rate rose to 11 percent in February (241,000 unemployed), the second-highest unemployment rate in the country behind Michigan (12 percent).
“Today’s unemployment news provides just another reason to act now on federal economic stimulus funding to create jobs in South Carolina and restore families hopes in the American Dream—in fact there’s 241,000 reasons. Political posturing must be put aside—let’s get South Carolina back on its feet."
