The
National Council on Disability (NCD) is an independent federal agency that
makes recommendations to the President and Congress on issues affecting
Americans with disabilities. NCD's purpose is to "promote policies, programs,
practices, and procedures that guarantee equal opportunity for all individuals
with disabilities." Some resources on the NCD website are:

NCD Bulletin is a monthly publication containing articles that cover topics
such as Supreme Court decisions regarding employment cases involving the
Americans with Disabilities Act, employment issues of people with disabilities,
agency rules affecting people with disabilities, and updates on disability
issues in Congress among others. The bulletins cover 1997-present (though more current bulletins
may not be posted) and they are browseable but not searchable.

NCD Newsroom contains NCD correspondence 1998-present; text and/or audio of
news releases or broadcasts from various programs; articles about NCD; articles
from NCD; NCD publications 1984-present, and NCD presentations, speeches and
testimony 1998-present.

NCD Federal Entities provides links to other Federal Agencies with
disability resources such as The Access Board, The Library of Congress and
the U.S. Department of Labor as well as links to resources such as the Federal Communications Commission
Disabilities Issues.

NCD Resources contains links to various resources for disability information
such as the ADA Technical Assistance Program, the Guide to Disability Civil
Rights Laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973, Section 508, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1997 among
others.
