Architecture

  Print this page Print

The CVISN Program provides a framework or architecture that will enable government agencies, the motor carrier industry, and other parties engaged in CVO safety assurance and regulation to exchange information and conduct business transactions electronically. The architecture is the overall structure and unifying design characteristics of CVISN.

The CVISN Architecture is the CVO part of the National Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Architecture (http://www.iteris.com/itsarch/). It includes standards for communications technologies such as Extended Markup Language (XML) and dedicated short range communication (DSRC). The open architecture and standards promote interoperability and efficiency. Conformance with the architecture enables systems to share data and work together to accomplish more than they could independently. The architecture also enables the addition of expanded capabilities after the state completes Core CVISN.
