Gary Casteel - Deputy Regional Administrator, FAS Regional Commissioner

Gary Casteel was named as the Deputy Regional Administrator for the Northwest/Arctic Region in February 2006, and was also named the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Regional Commissioner in May 2007. In this dual role, he oversees programs and services delivered in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington as well as select offerings to clients in other states.

The Northwest/Arctic Region FAS includes national programs such as the Management Services Center; and regional programs which include Fleet Services, Network Services, Assisted Acquisitions, and a Global Supply Store located on Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Mr. Casteel began his GSA career in 1966 when he joined the Northwest/Arctic Region’s Federal Supply Service, and he rose steadily upward through various leadership roles before he was appointed as its Regional Commissioner in 1996. In 2002, he was appointed to an additional leadership role as the FTS Regional Commissioner. Mr. Casteel has been the recipient of numerous professional awards, including the GSA Distinguished Service Award (1989), which is GSA’s highest individual recognition.
