2008 Award Winners
Best of ITS
Presented by ITS America, the Best of ITS Awards is the only program in the world that honors the most innovative, effective, and influential achievements in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) industry. This highly competitive program recognizes the organizations whose projects have demonstrated specific and measurable outcomes and exemplified innovation by establishing a “new dimension” of performance.
Outstanding State Chapters
The Outstanding State Chapters Awards have been the highest award given to an ITS America State Chapter for the development of superb programming and fostering the highest qualities of leadership within the membership. In addition to the Outstanding State Chapter award, three additional awardees are selected in categories that underscore their effectiveness and impact in furthering ITS networking, outreach, and advocacy; organizational and professional development, and successful ITS deployments or practices.
Student Essay Competition
One of the highlights of ITS America’s Annual Meeting is the Student Essay Competition. The Student Essay Competition is designed to encourage student interest and future participation in the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems and solutions, provide an opportunity for today’s transportation and engineering students to apply their knowledge in a thought-provoking and hopefully enjoyable competition, and build awareness of ITS as a career path with unlimited potential.
ITS Hall of Fame
The recipients of the ITS Hall of Fame Awards are selected based on their standard of leadership in the transportation technology arena. Each person has served an outstanding, lifelong career dedicated to organizational leadership in the field and thought leadership contributing to the vision of intelligent transportation systems. All have been tireless advocates for fulfilling ITS’ promise.
