The Foundation’s
Generation Free Campaign empowers young people to join in our efforts to globally eradicate the pediatric AIDS pandemic in hopes of creating a generation free of HIV. The program aims to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among college students while educating them on the risks associated with the disease.
The Generation Free campaign — previously known as Caring for Kids 101 — was launched on World AIDS Day (December 1) in 1999. The Up for the Fight Dance Marathon events, held at colleges and universities across the country, form the cornerstone of the campaign. Students pledge to stay on their feet for 12, 18, or even 24 straight hours to represent the mental and physical challenges faced by children suffering from HIV/AIDS.
