The Academy for Eating Disorders
The AED is a professional organization focusing on anorexia nervosa,
bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and related disorders. AED
develops guidelines for training and practice for professionals in the
field of eating disorders and advocates for the field on behalf of
patients, the public and professionals. AED develops initiatives for the
primary and secondary prevention of eating disorders and provides
educational resources regarding eating disorder awareness to
professionals and the general public.

American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive
Disorders
The American Academy is a non-profit organization that maintains
quality standards for the provision of treatment in the addictive
disorders. The Academy was created to establish a set of standards of
competence for addiction treatment professionals throughout the
world.

Healing Connections
Healing Connections is a non-profit organization focusing on
education, prevention, intervention, advocacy and financial assistance
for those suffering from anorexia and bulimia. It offers educational
programs to patients, and raises money for patients who can no longer
afford treatment, and for education, prevention and advocacy.

International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals
IAEDP provides quality education and high-level training regarding
the entire spectrum of eating disorders for healthcare professionals.
The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals also
certifies professionals who successfully complete the academic course
work and pass a written examination.

Multi-service Eating Disorders Association, Inc.
MEDA’s mission is to prevent the continued spread of eating
disorders through educational awareness and early detection. MEDA serves
as a support network and as a resource to individuals recovering from
eating disorders through self-esteem, nutrition, and body image
workshops. MEDA offers consultations for healthcare professionals and
training throughout the year on various eating disorders topics to
hospitals and private practices.

The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated
Disorders
The ANAD provides programs for all eating disorders. The
organization offers support groups in all 50 states and 14 countries and
offers counseling and information via telephone hotline and e-mail.

The National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems
The NAPHS works with hospitals and outpatient programs to deliver
effective treatment for children, adolescents, and adults with eating
disorders. The Association of Behavioral Group Practices (ABGP) merged
with the NAPHS in 1991 to become a special-interest section committed to
advocating for a marketplace in which behavioral group practices can
deliver effective, quality healthcare services.

The National Eating Disorders Association
The National Eating Disorders Association is the largest
not-for-profit organization in the United States working to prevent
eating disorders, eliminate body dissatisfaction, and provide treatment
referrals to those suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating
disorder and those concerned with body image, eating, and weight
issues.

The National Mental Illness Screening Project, Eating Disorders
Screening Program
The National Eating Disorders Screening Program is a large scale
screening program for eating disorders which takes place annually during
Eating Disorders Awareness Week. The program includes an educational
presentation for patients on eating disorders and/or related topics, a
written screening test and the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a
health professional. It also provides individuals with information about
how to help friends or family members who may be suffering from an
eating disorder.

The Renfrew Center
The Renfrew Center provides training programs, conferences, and
seminars for professionals in the healthcare arena in order to assist
them in dealing with eating disorders. The center also makes available
