Mississippi Highway 6 Project Crossing the Natchez Trace Parkway Begins
On March 2, 2009, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) began construction of the Mississippi Highway 6 crossing of the Natchez Trace Parkway.  Construction on the Parkway will extend from about MP 256 to 258.

Controlled Burning Along the Natchez Trace Parkway 2008-2009
The Natchez Trace Parkway has released its prescribed fire (controlled burning) schedule for 2008-2009.   From November 2008 through June 2009, prescribed fire operations will be conducted at various locations along the Parkway.

There are currently no detours in place along the Natchez Trace Parkway

 
Boatmen from the Ohio River Valley walked along the Natchez Trace.  

Did You Know?
The "Kaintucks", or boatmen from the Ohio River Valley, would walk approximately 500 miles from Natchez to Nashville along the Natchez Trace in about 30 days.
