Detailed Forecast Discussion |
A low pressure system associated with the stalled fontal boundary during the past several days will move across the Mid-Atlantic this afternoon and tonight. A warm front associated with this system will bring rain showers with possible thunderstorms along with breezy conditions overnight into Thursday morning. As a result, air quality will generally be Good. A chance of precipitation will be minimal starting on Thursday afternoon through early Friday afternoon. A short break in cloud cover and rain during this period along with light winds, warm and moist air will allow particle pollution to increase to Moderate range. Ozone levels may also reach the lower Moderate range on Friday at isolated locations where cloud covers will be minimal. On Saturday, chance of precipitation is increased for areas east of the I-95 corridor due to another weak disturbance moving through the region. Fine particle pollution is expected to be Moderate while ozone should linger at Good/Moderate threshold. The Mid-Atlantic will finally break free of the intermittent rain during the past week although more widespread Moderate air quality is expected to return starting on Sunday. - MDE |
