2007 Enforcement Notice

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) provides notice to the regulated industry and its stakeholders of the 169 hazardous materials civil penalty cases it closed in calendar year 2007 and collected $893,133.04 in penalties.

It is the responsibility of PHMSA's Hazmat Enforcement Office to improve compliance with the safety and training standards of the Hazardous Materials Regulations by inspecting and investigating, among other methods, companies and individuals who offer hazardous materials for transportation or who manufacture, maintain, repair, recondition or test packages authorized for transporting hazardous materials.
