Linda J. Welch

Linda Welch was named Acting Vice President, Delivery and Post Office Operations in April 2009. In this dual position, Welch is responsible for operations in nearly 33,000 Post Offices, stations and branches across the nation and for improving service and reducing costs in the Postal Service’s delivery network, which continues to expand by 1.2 million new delivery points each year. Welch is also responsible for automation initiatives designed to improve mail delivery efficiency.

Prior to this position, Welch served as the District Manager of the Dallas and Fort Worth Districts. She led her team to improve efficiency and reduce costs while achieving record service levels.

As the Dallas District Manager, Welch was responsible for 352 Post Offices, stations and branches, serving over 5.8 million customers in a 32,600 square-mile geographic area throughout North Central and Eastern Texas. Annual revenues for Dallas District exceeded $1.6 billion, with annual operating expenses of approximately $918 million, with an employee complement exceeding 15,000 employees.

Welch joined the Postal Service in May of 1973 as a Postal Assistant. She has held a variety of positions in her postal career, including director of human resources, manager of distribution operations, postmaster in Plano, TX, and manager of delivery program support at the Southwest Area Office.

Welch attended Arizona State University where she majored in Business Management. Linda, and her son Cody, reside in Murphy, Texas.
