Susan Plonkey

Susan Plonkey was named vice president of Sales in January 2009. Reporting to the president of Mailing and Shipping Services, Plonkey oversees the integrated sales and service organization focused on fully serving the needs of all commercial mailers, including small-, mid-sized and large businesses. In addition to the domestic sales team, Sales now includes the Business Service Network, the Customer Development group, and the analytical support provided by the Customer Relationship Management unit.

Immediately preceding this appointment, Plonkey served as vice president, Business Customer Relations. Prior to that, Plonkey served as vice president of Customer Service for three years. She also served as manager of the Fort Worth District from 2003-2005, where she oversaw the retail and delivery operations in 416 Post Offices in Northwest Texas, covering more than 114,000 square miles and serving more than 1 million possible deliveries, as well as the operation of three processing and distribution facilities.

Earlier, Plonkey served as manager, processing and distribution, Austin, Texas. In 1998, she was selected as the first female postmaster of Dallas, Texas, the ninth largest Post Office in the United States. She also served as field director, marketing and communications in Oklahoma City, postmaster of Oklahoma City and several other retail and customer service operations positions.

Plonkey has received numerous national postal honors and awards including the Vice President’s award from Postmaster General Jack Potter in 2003 and the prestigious Board of Governors’ Award in 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.
