Steven Forte

Steven Forte was named Vice President, Area Operations, for the New York Metro Area in March 2008. Forte is the senior postal official in an area that includes the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Westchester and several other counties in the lower Hudson Valley, New York, most of New Jersey, as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. He is responsible for all postal operations, including mail processing and distribution, logistics, sales and marketing, customer service and administrative support. He reports to the Deputy Postmaster General and Chief Operating Officer.

Previously, Forte was manager of operations support for New York Metro. He has extensive experience in delivery, customer services and mail processing. He is a former manager of station and branch operations, manager of technical sales and service, and superintendent of branch operations. He has managed postal facilities in Queens and Westchester as well as in-plant support for the area.

Forte began his postal career in 1977 in Hempstead, New York, where he was a mail handler, clerk and letter carrier.

He is a graduate of Hofstra University, where he also earned a master's degree in business administration. He recently completed an executive program in leadership and strategic impact at Dartmouth College.
