Ranger Guided Activities
 

Summer Activities:

Guided Kayak-Canoe Tours: Hop in a kayak or canoe and paddle along the lush riverbanks of the Lewis and Clark River. Launching at Netul Landing, one mile south of Fort Clatsop visitor center, join a park ranger and learn of the cultural and natural history of what was the Netul River. The paddle is offered at 1:00 PM Saturday & Sunday, August 23 through September 28, 2008. More...

Netul Trail Guided Walks: Stroll along the riverbanks of the Lewis and Clark River. Walk with a ranger and explore how the tidal influx affects the river estuary, the wildlife, and how people have utilized the river through out time. The 1.5 mile tour begins at Fort Clatsop and ends at the Netul Landing. Shuttle is available for the return trip to the visitor center. The walk is offered daily at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM from June 23 through September 1, 2008.

Fort to Sea Trail Guided Hikes:  Put on your hiking boots, grab your daypack and water, and join a ranger for a tour to the ocean. Following in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark, study the plants, wildlife and the dynamic ecosystems along the trail. The 6.5 mile hike begins at the Fort Clatsop Visitor Center. The hike is offered Wednesday through Saturday at 11:00 AM and Sunday at 1:00 PM from June 23 through September 1, 2008. More...

Fort Ranger Programs: Step back in time and explore the daily lives of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Daily ranger talks are offered from June 23 through September 1, 2008. The daily program schedule:

The average American man in the early 1800s was 5'5" or 5'6". Both Clark and Lewis were six feet tall though. Under most circumstances military recruits had to be at least 5'4" to join the army.
