Green Engineering Program
This program facilitates the design, commercialization, and use of processes and products that are feasible and economical, while minimizing the generation of pollution at the source, and the risk to human health and the environment. This program helps introduce a green philosophy into engineering programs through the development of environmental information disseminated to the academic and industrial communities. EPA has partnered with the American Society of Engineering Education to develop green engineering educational materials for training. The materials include a textbook, student handouts, instructor’s guide, and case studies. This program also cosponsors workshops to facilitate the exchange of green engineering information among practicing engineers and researchers. Both the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and the Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Program include green engineering in their research programs.
