Green Chemistry Program
This program promotes innovative chemical technologies that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances in the design, manufacture, and use of chemical products. The program also supports educational efforts, international activities, and conferences and meetings to encourage the commercialization and use of green chemistry. Activities include the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award given annually to recognize innovative chemical methods that achieve pollution prevention and have broad application. The annual Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference presents the latest research and commercial activities in green chemistry. Both the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and the Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Program include green chemistry in their research programs.
