Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council; Public Meetings
AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
ACTION: Notice of public meetings.

SUMMARY: The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (Council) and its
Surfclam and Ocean Quahog Committee, Comprehensive Management
Committee, Squid-Mackerel-Butterfish Committee and Squid-Mackerel-
Butterfish Monitoring Committee, and Executive Committee will hold
public meetings.
DATES: The meetings will be held on Monday, August 9, 1999, to
Thursday, August 12, 1999. See SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION for specific
dates and times.

9:00 a.m. until noon--Council will meet with the ASMFC's Summer
Flounder, Scup, and Black Bass Board
1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.--Council will meet with the ASMFC's
Bluefish Board
The full Council session will continue until 4:00 p.m.
Agenda items for this meeting include: Election of Chairman and
Vice Chairman; review process for field program proposals; adoption of
2000 quota and commercial management measures for surfclams and ocean
quahogs; development of recommendations for and adoption of 2000 quotas
and commercial management measures for Atlantic mackerel, Loligo and
Illex squids and butterfish; adoption of commercial quota, recreational
harvest limit, and commercial management measures for summer flounder,
scup, and black sea bass for 2000; adoption of bluefish management
measures for 2000; and consideration of revised habitat sections for
previously disapproved fishery management plans. Other items scheduled
on the agenda include: Report of Stock Assessment Review Committee;
receipt of committee reports and other fishery management issues.
Although other issues not contained in this agenda may come before
this Council for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens
Fishery Conservation and Management Act, such issues may not be the
subject of formal action during this meeting. Action will be restricted
to those issues specifically identified in the agenda listed in this
notice.
