GK Technologies, Inc. and Indiana Steel & Wire Co. Cause No. IP 90-2122-C-D/G. The proposed Consent Decree settles claims asserted by the United States, on behalf of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, pursuant to Section 3008 of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, 42 U.S.C. 6928, against GK Technologies, Inc. (``GK''), involving a wire manufacturing facility formerly operated by Indiana Steel & Wire Co. (``IS&W'') on land owned by GK Technologies in Muncie, Indiana. The Consent Decree requires GK to complete certain environmental investigations and to implement workplans for remediation of the facility upon approval by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's (``IDEM'') Voluntary Remediation Program (``VRP''). Under the proposed decree, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will review and have an opportunity to comment on the investigatory reports [[Page 33910]] and proposed workplans submitted to the IDEM VRP. IS&W is not a party to the proposed consent decree; however, the United States reserves its rights with respect to IS&W and the current operator of the facility. The Department of Justice will receive written comments relating to the proposed Consent Decree for thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice. Comments should be directed to the Assistant Attorney General, Environment and Natural Resources Division, U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, D.C. 20530, and should refer to United States v. GK Technologies, Inc. and IS&W Co., DOJ Reference # 90-7-1-407A.
