Award Program Results 2008

WINNING ENTRIES SELECTED IN GSA FY 2008 ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR REAL PROPERTY INNOVATION

For this year's Achievement Award program, GSA sought entries demonstrating innovation, creativity and best practices in two categories of Federal real property: Asset Management and Sustainability.  GSA received a total of 42 entries from 13 Federal agencies for this year's program, resulting in an extremely competitive field.  Submitted entries included a wide variety of projects from across the Federal sector, covering a broad range of real property areas, technical specialties and geographic locations.  Some entries focus on a single facility, while others describe wide-range frameworks that are national in scope.  An independent panel of real property professionals reviewed and evaluated the entries in both the Asset Management and Sustainability categories.

The competition resulted in one winning entry in the Asset Management category and one winning entry in the Sustainability category.  GSA honored ten exemplary entries, including the two winning entries, at an Awards Ceremony on October 14, 2008 in Washington, D.C.  In an effort to encourage the adoption and adaptation of these practices throughout the Federal government, cash awards in the amount of $10,000 were presented to each of the two winning entries.

Summaries of all submitted entries have been included in a special edition of GSA's Office of Governmentwide Policy (OGP) Policysite newsletter.
