The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

MEMORANDUM FOR HEADS OF AGENCIES

FROM: Naomi C. Earp, Chair

SUBJECT: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Fellows Program (EEOCFP)

I am pleased to announce the kick-off of EEOC's Fellows Program. This new initiative has been established to afford Federal officials, professors and graduate students an opportunity to partner with the EEOC in fostering and sustaining fair and inclusive workplaces.

The EEOCFP engages the EEOC, Federal agencies and academia in working together, exchanging information, sharing best practices and identifying program and process improvements to strengthen Federal equal opportunity programs and promote workplace practices that allow all workers the opportunity to achieve their highest potential.

This program gives high performing individuals an opportunity to use their knowledge and experience in a practical setting conducive to enhancing their individual skill sets and hands-on experiences. During the non-reimbursable assignment, the individual will share knowledge and expertise and gain a broader perspective of Federal equal opportunity by working as part of EEOC's leadership team.

The Fellowship Program strengthens EEOC partnerships, focuses on cutting-edge outcomes and promotes fair and inclusive workplace practices for application government-wide. As well, it promotes research that will benefit all employment sectors and the educational community.

The EEOCFP consists of three levels. The Distinguished Fellows Program is open to GS-14's and above, or equivalents in the academic community, interested in assignments to the EEOC for six months or more; the Meritorious Fellows Program is open to GS-13's and below, or equivalents in the academic community, interested in assignments for less than six months; and the Exchange Program is open to EEOC employees and others interested in exchanging jobs based on mutual agreement.

The target audience for the program includes equal employment opportunity, human resources and legal professionals as well as analysts, statisticians, labor economists and other relevant fields. The attached materials provide information on program eligibility and selection criteria. Nominations are due by July 2, 2007. I welcome and look forward to your personal support and your agency's participation in the EEOCFP.

Please do not hesitate to contact Marcia Coates, Senior Advisor, EEOCFP at (202) 663-7095, if you have any questions on the program.
