Research Project: Satellite Remote Sensing Field Experiments

Location: Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory

Project Number: 1265-13610-027-08
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Nov 30, 2007
End Date: Nov 30, 2008

Objective:
Develop from spectral properties of crops metrics to assess plant health and vigor (i.e. light use efficiency) in response to nutrient and water availability that can be used with satellite observations.

Approach:
Collect remote sensing data from ground-based multispectral sensors and ancillary vegetation and micrometeorological data from OPE3 experimental watershed commensurate with aircraft and satellite data to validate algorithms assessing crop moisture and nutrient status.
