Q1. What is the EEOC Fellows Program?

A: The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Fellows Program (EEOCFP) is a competitive program designed to create a pool of candidates for detail assignments to the EEOC. The Program provides an opportunity for Federal and Academic leaders to share their knowledge as well as gain a broader understanding of and contribute to EEOC's vision and mission while strengthening partnerships in the Federal and educational community.

Q2. Who is eligible for the EEOC Fellows Program?

A: The program is open to high performing Federal employees and professors/graduate students interested in sharing knowledge and gaining a broader understanding of and contributing to the EEOC's vision and mission.

Q3. Where will the EEOC Fellows assignments be located?

A. The 2007 EEOC Fellows program assignments will be in Washington, DC only. We will evaluate the program and make a determination as to whether or not to expand it to EEOC field sites in the future.

Q4. What is the EEOC's vision and mission?

A: EEOC's vision is to achieve a strong and prosperous nation secured through a fair and inclusive workplace; its mission is to promote equality of opportunity in the workplace and enforce Federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.

Q5. How does this assignment benefit me and my agency?

A: Fellows will contribute to shaping policies and processes that impact all employment sectors. In addition to networking with other leaders, candidates will share in EEOC mission accomplishment; and facilitate information exchange among Federal agencies, educational institutions and the EEOC. Fellows will return to their agencies and educational communities to build on insights for continuous program/process improvements and share benchmarking successes.

Q6. How long are the details?

A: The EEOCFP consists of three levels. The Distinguished Fellows Program is open to GS-14's and above or equivalents in the academic community interested in details to the EEOC for six months or more; the Meritorious Fellows Program is open to GS-13's and below and equivalents in the academic community interested in details for less than six months; and the Exchange Program is open to EEOC employees and others interested in exchanging jobs based on mutual agreement.

Q7. Does my agency have to pay my salary during the detail?

A: Yes. The assignments are non-reimbursable details.

Q8. How long is the program open?

A: Applications for the 2007 EEOCFP will be accepted May 1 - July 2, 2007.

Q9. How do I apply?

A: The application package must contain an OF-612 or resume; an endorsement from the agency head; two reference letters and a personal interest statement. Additional information is available at www.eeoc.gov.

Q10. What happens if it is not a "fit," and I want to return to my agency/organization earlier than anticipated or vise versa, if the EEOC wants me to return?

A: The program makes a special effort to ensure that both the fellow and EEOC are comfortable with the assignment. However, a fellowship can be terminated by the Agency or by EEOC.

Q11. Who will I be reporting to?

A: Each fellow will be assigned to the leadership team of a division of the Office of Federal Operations.

Q12. What projects or assignments are available?

A: Fellows have an opportunity to submit projects with measurable outcomes. However, EEOC has the following projects available as well:
