The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) is a national non-profit organization representing the 70 medical boards of the United States and its territories. The FSMB's mission is to continuously improve the quality, safety and integrity of health care through developing and promoting high standards for physician licensure and practice.

Federation of State Medical Boards Elects New Officers

Delegates at the Federation of State Medical Boards' 97th Annual Meeting, held April 30 through May 2 in Arlington, Va., elected new board members, officers and committee members for the coming year. Read More



FSMB Releases 2009 Report on Physician Regulation

State of the States - Physician Regulation 2009

The FSMB has released State of the States: Physician Regulation 2009, the latest in a series of in-depth looks at the work of state medical boards. Topics in this year's report include an initiative to streamline the medical licensure process with a uniform application and an overview of the medical board investigations process.

The FSMB also released its Summary of 2008 Board Actions report, a state-by-state compilation of disciplinary actions taken by medical boards last year.
