BA Awards 2004 - Congratulations to the ANRI recipients of the BA Awards!

Beltsville Area Senior Research Scientist:
Dr. Jerry C. Ritchie, HRSL - is being recognized for continuous outstanding research and leadership in soil and water conservation on ways to manage, conserve, and improve the quality and sustainability of soil and water resources.

BA Equal Opportunity/Civil Rights Award:
Dr. Thomas J. Jackson, HRSL - is being recognized for outstanding leadership in the development of a program to foster participation of underrepresented groups in remote sensing and hydrology at Alabama A&M University.

BA Technology Transfer Award:
Dr. Rufus Chaney, AMBL - is being recognized for technology transder of phytoextraction/phytomining of nickel, cobalt, cadmium and zinc to remediate contaminated soils thereby alleviating human and/or environmental risks.


ARS Presidential Awards of Rank - Congratulations to ANRI's recipients!

On June 28th, Seven Agricultural Research Service scientists and executives have won Presidential Awards of Rank for 2003. The prestigious honors, approved by the president of the United States, acknowledge exceptional senior federal government employees. The winners were cited for demonstrating strength, integrity, business acumen and a commitment to excellence in public service.

Rufus L. Chaney, AMBL - research agronomist, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, Md. Cheney is renowned worldwide for developing safe, environmentally friendly techniques to remove trace elements such as cadmium from contaminated soils, so that they can't move into food crops.

Jitender P. Dubey, APDL - microbiologist, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, Md. Dubey's pioneering research into the biology and control of three major diseases of people and livestock--toxoplasmosis, neosporosis and equine protozoal myeloencephalitis--has saved billions of dollars worldwide in healthcare and livestock production costs
