The Comptroller General of the United States, the head of the General Accounting Office (GAO), issues
decisions in the areas of Federal law such as
Appropriations,
Bid Protests and
Federal Agency Major Rules Reports. The Federal Agency Major Rules Reports
are under a GAO identification system. The decisions have a numbering system that
is used for identification purposes beginning with a B-(number). The
decisions for each of the areas listed above cover approximately three years to
the present day. They are available as html or pdf files and the more recent
decisions are listed at the top of the page. You can also sign up to receive e-mails
of Comptroller General Decisions. By subscribing to
GAO's electronic alerts online, you will receive a copy of
the decisions on the day they are released.
GPO Access also contains
GAO Comptroller General Decisions. The database is updated within two business
days after decisions have been released. This is a searchable database containing
decisions from October 1995 to present.
To obtain Comptroller General Decisions through Westlaw (http://www.westlaw.com),
use the CG database. Coverage begins with 1921 and Westlaw recently added KeyCite
coverage for Comptroller General Decisions. While KeyCite coverage is currently
limited to direct history and negative indirect history, Westlaw will include citing
references in the near future.
