Monica C. Gil, M.A.
Monica Gil is a human factors psychologist in the Human Factors Division at the U.S. Department of Transportation's John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center. Ms. Gil joined the Volpe Center as the first recipient of the John A. Volpe Transportation Internship in May of 2000. Recently she accepted a permanent position at the
Volpe Center.
Ms. Gil is involved in research that investigates issues surrounding how drivers' expectations affect their decision-making upon entering a grade crossing intersection. In addition to grade crossing safety research, her other research interests in the field of transportation include system design, automation, information management, and intelligent transportation systems.
Ms. Gil received a M.A. in psychology. Currently she is a doctoral candidate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Connecticut, where she assists in teaching introductory psychology courses.
