New Year, New Resolutions

What started as a holiday stress reliever has now blossomed into a New Year’s Resolution deal maker.

Now through February, personal trainer Linda Sevier is offering a circuit training session every Tuesday at noon and Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Nation’s gymnasium. The session is available free of charge to Oneida Nation Members, Health Center clients, and employees ages 16 and up.

During the 45-minute class, attendees rotate through 10 exercise stations, which focus on cardiovascular health, strength training, and/or a combination of the two. Linda spot checks each participant, making sure they follow through the exercises correctly. All stations feature activities participants could adapt easily at home.

During its fiscal year that concluded at the end of Sept., the Nation had an annual payroll that topped $126 million and its employees paid more than four million in state income tax. On top of that, the Nation and its business enterprises purchased nearly $250 million in goods and services in New York State. Collectively, the Nation’s economic impact in this state alone was more than $380 million. The Nation is the largest employer locally and the fourth largest employer in the counties of greater Central New York. Read more »
