Approving Officer

Course Number: 1771

This course will teach a travel authorizing/approving official or his designee (e.g., supervisor of the traveler) how to review and sign travel claims to confirm authorized travel. The reviewing official will have full knowledge of the employee's activities. He/she will be able to ensure:

  • The claim is properly prepared in accordance with the pertinent regulations and agency procedures;
  • A copy of the authorization for travel is provided;
  • The types of expense claimed are authorized and allowable expenses;
  • The amounts claimed are accurate; and
  • The required receipts, statements and justifications are attached to the voucher.
