Welcome to
the Research & Special Projects Administration's
(RSPA) Public Affairs web page. RSPA is responsible for a variety of safety and
regulatory programs. The Office of Pipeline Safety is
responsible for regulating the safe transportation of 1.5
million miles of interstate & intrastate natural gas
pipelines. The Office of Hazardous Material
Transportation issues standards for almost all types of
hazardous materials transportation. Also, the Volpe
National Transportation Systems Center is an organization within RSPA dedicated to
enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and
responsiveness of other Federal organizations with
critical transportation-related functions and missions.
