Heartland Emergency Management

In an emergency, GSA's Heartland Region works with other agencies to support the Department of Homeland Security's National Response Plan. GSA is responsible for opening and closing federal office buildings where agencies are located. Federal workers should follow their agency's emergency procedures and monitor media announcements about related information.

GSA publishes all emergency information, when necessary, to www.gsa.gov/emergency.

Agencies occupying GSA-managed buildings are reminded to coordinate their alternate work sites and contact information with GSA's Regional Emergency Coordinator.

In Kansas City

The Heartland Region works with FEMA to lead the Kansas City Regional COOP Working Group, a Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board program dedicated to improving the federal community's overall emergency preparedness.
