Planned Parenthood Federation of America is a voluntary family planning and reproductive health organization. This Federation of 128 organizations operates 875 family planning clinics that provide contraceptive services, gynecological services, infertility therapy, pregnancy testing and counseling, prenatal services, sexually transmitted disease diagnosis, abortions, and sterilization services. Educational efforts are directed at specific problems such as unwanted pregnancies among adolescents. Planned Parenthood sponsors research to develop safe and effective contraceptives and to better understand human reproduction.
Publication topics include contraceptive methods, fertility, marriage, social issues, teenage sexuality, sexuality education, population, and administration of family planning clinics. Some pamphlets have been translated into Spanish. Flip charts, posters, a comic book, slides, film strips, and films are available in addition to pamphlets, bibliographies, sexuality education resource materials, and books. A publications catalog and Education Department resource list are available upon request. Serial publications: Current Literature in Family Planning, monthly--abstracts of books and journal articles; a bimonthly newsletter LINK Line; an annual Adolescent Sexuality bibliography.
