WASHINGTON - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the selection of Michael R. Novak as the Office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (OLE/FAMS) assistant director for Office of Personnel and Training.

Since March 2006 Novak has served as OLE/FAMS chief of staff and as its business management officer. In this position he was responsible for the coordination of all fiscal and administrative matters that affect OLE/FAMS.

"Mike Novak is a highly experienced leader whose contributions to the FAMS have been invaluable," said Dana Brown, OLE/FAMS assistant administrator. "I have every confidence Mike will serve with distinction in his new role as assistant director of personnel and training."

The Office of Personnel and Training is responsible for the human resources and training functions within OLE/FAMS. Novak will oversee the hiring, training and retention of highly qualified, professional employees capable of maintaining a consistently high level of security throughout our nation's transportation systems.

Novak holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and psychology from Michigan State University and is a graduate of the Eastern Management Development Center's Executive Development Seminar in Shepherdstown, W. Va.
