HONOLULU – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today named Glen Richard Kajiyama federal security director (FSD) for Honolulu International Airport (HNL) pending final approval from the Department of Homeland Security.

Prior to joining TSA, Kajiyama served the people of Honolulu for 30 years as a standout officer and leader within the Honolulu Police Department. He rose through the ranks in the department, joining as a police recruit officer and leaving as the deputy chief of Administrative Operations for the force. In his last role, Kajiyama was responsible for staffing, planning and organizing department personnel.

"Glen Kajiyama brings a unique professional background to TSA," says Mo McGowan, TSA's assistant administrator for Security Operations. "His local law enforcement experience in Honolulu, and time spent working on personnel issues, will ensure his ability to meet the challenges in the role of federal security director."

During his law enforcement career Kajiyama served a variety of roles in the human resources division, working on a myriad of issues from employee development and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issues to collective bargaining and employee relations.

He holds a bachelor's degree in criminology from Fresno State University and a master's degree in criminal justice administration from Chaminade University. Kajiyama also completed a law enforcement management training program at the FBI National Academy. He is a lifelong resident of Honolulu. Kajiyama replaces Sidney Hayakawa who is retiring from TSA.
