Youth Environmental Training Area (YETA)
The YETA is a campground on the Refuge made available to educational groups who complete environmental education studies while staying at the Refuge. Most of these groups also perform service projects for the Refuge. The YETA is located on a spur road off the Tour Loop, 1.8 miles south of the Visitor Center. It is situated on San Antonio Bay in an oak and redbay woodland.

Five sites are located within the YETA equidistant and in succession along the YETA road, which ends in a turnaround. The first site you'll see is called the Assembly Area. It is a large site equipped with a screened shelter, restrooms, amphitheater and fire ring and small picnic shelter. Sites 1-4, are of the walk-in type, reachable via a short trail from a small parking pull-off. All sites have shoreline access. Campsites 1-3 sleep up to 35 people each. Campsite 4 has separate patrol areas and sleeps up to 60 people. Each of these sites contain a covered shelter with a picnic table, small open grill, food locker, fire ring with limited seating, limited parking at the end of the trail, and potable water by the parking area. Men's /women's restrooms are located by the entrance to Campsite # 2 and provide 2 showers, toilets, sinks and electricity. No hot water.
