For good health and a higher quality lifestyle, the DOT Fitness Center Staff is eager to have you join our program. We believe we can help you feel and look better, maintain good health and help you to be more productive.

All DOT and other current federal employees are eligible for membership. Contractors and private citizens are not eligible for membership.

The cost is only $6 per pay period and may be paid by payroll deduction; non-DOT federal employees must pay by check.

Joining is easy. Just fill out an application form and deliver it to the DOT Fitness Center on the rooftop of the Nassif building or contact Vivian Wallace at (202) 366-9731.

Screening

After the Fitness Center staff receives your completed application, you will be contacted to schedule an Exercise Evaluation, which consists of the following measurements:

  • Body Weight
  • Resting and Exercise Pulse Rates
  • Resting and Exercise Blood Pressures
  • Aerobic Fitness Evaluation
  • Determination of Body Composition
  • Flexibility Evaluation

Altermative Screening Option

If you do not wish to go through the exercise tolerance test, you may instead choose to have a Physician’s Consent Form, provided by the fitness center staff, signed by your personal physician and returned to the fitness staff to be kept on record.

Consultation and Exercise Presecription

If the exercise tolerance test or the physician’s consent form reveals that physical exercise would present no significant risk, a personalized exercise prescription is prepared.

The results of the test are analyzed by the fitness center staff to determine the type and level of exercise to prescribe. Exercise techniques are also demonstrated to ensure safe and effective workout sessions.  At this point, you are ready to take part in the DOT HEALTH EDUCATION AND FITNESS TRAINING PROGRAM.

DON'T PUT IT OFF ANY LONGER, JOIN TODAY!
